Panel: Unconventional Paths to Publishing

We’re all familiar with the traditional path to getting published: write a manuscript or book proposal, find an agent, then have your agent match you with the perfect publisher. That is the most treaded route, but sometimes authors break conventions and find their own ways to publishing a book. And these authors aren’t renegades or rebels—they’re simply tapping into resources that are available to all of us. Discover how others have landed book deals while eschewing established practices, how unconventional paths to publishing could work for you, and how publishers feel about authors who come to them in unexpected ways.

Panelists: Alys Arden, Author, The Casquette Girls; Anjali Duva, Author, Faint Promise of Rain; Kerri Kolen, Executive Editor, G.P. Putnam's Sons; Maris Kreizman, Publishing Project Specialist, Kickstarter; Carmen Maria Machado, Author
